Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), Baghdad Amreyev attended the meeting of Kazakh Diaspora Kurultay organized in Paris on 4-5 June 2022 by the "Otandastar Qory" Foundation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kazakh Embassy in France.
The Kurultay gathered around one hundred participants, including prominent diaspora representatives, academics, diaspora business people, members of the press, and students from the Kazakh diaspora living in France as well as those from the OTS Member States- Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, Türkiye, and Uzbekistan.
In his address, Secretary General of OTS Baghdad Amreyev expressed his appreciation to Abzal Saparbekuly, President of Kazakh “Otandastar Qory” and Ambassador of Kazakhstan H.E. Zhan Galiyev for organizing the Kurultay and inviting the Organization of Turkic States.
The Head of OTS pointed out that the aim of the diaspora activities undertaken by the Organization is to create a united, well-informed, and organized Turkic diaspora across the world, as mentioned by the Heads of State at the OTS Summits. Furthermore, he outlined the importance of such events to establish efficient cooperation and coordination among the over 20 million citizens of the brotherly Turkic States living worldwide.
Secretary General emphasized the necessity of protecting and sustaining the diaspora's contact with their homeland, culture, and language.
The Head of OTS also pointed out that the potential of the common diaspora can contribute significantly to developing the Turkic States' political, economic, and social ties with Europe.
Secretary General also met with the heads and representatives of diasporas of Turkic States in Paris - E. Nazir (Kazakh - French Association), K. Japarov (Kyrgyz Club - France), T. Bagci (DITIB France), I. Alci (CCMTF France), C. Dogan (CIMG France), O. Keskin (UID France), F. Yuldashev Meros (Uzbek Association), J. Fataliyeva (Associations des Amis d'Azerbaijan) and O. Ilhan (Turkish-French Federation).
During the meeting, participants exchanged views on diasporas' economic, cultural, and social roles, their living conditions abroad and expectations, as well as the ways to enhance the cooperation and coordination among the diaspora institutions of the Member States.
Secretary General Baghdad Amreyev held a meeting in Paris with Ambassadors and Representatives of OTS Member States accredited to France. The meeting was attended by the Ambassador of Kazakhstan, Zhan Galiyev, Ambassador of Turkiye, H.E. Refik Ali Onaner, and the Ambassador of Uzbekistan, H.E. Sador Rustambayev, Cultural Attache of Embassy of Azerbaycan in Paris, Mrs. Gunel Zulfuqarova, Permanent Representative of Azerbaycan to UNESCO, H.E Elman Abdullayev, Permanent Representative of Turkiye to UNESCO, H.E. Gulnur Aybet and Permanent Representative of Uzbekistan to UNESCO, H.E. Umid Shadiyev.
Secretary General and Turkic Ambassadors and Permanent Representatives discussed the ongoing cooperation of the OTS Member States with France and various areas of collaboration between OTS and UNESCO.
