Secretary General attended the Press Launch of the 4th World Nomad Games held in Ankara.

On 13 May 2022, the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) H.E. Baghdad Amreyev attended the Press Launch Program of the 4th World Nomad Games which will be held between 29 September-2 October 2022 in İznik, one of the historical districts of Bursa, the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World in the year 2022.

 Hosted by the Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Türkiye H.E. Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu, the event was attended by the President of the World Ethnosport Confederation (WEC) Mr. Necmeddin Bilal Erdoğan, officials of the Traditional Sports Federation, high level bureaucrats and representatives from the Embassies of the Turkic States in Ankara.

 During the program, the authorities of the Ministry of Youth and Sports and the Traditional Sports Federation made a 3D briefing on the preparations of the Games, the physical infrastructure of the facilities, accommodation set-up for athletes and visitors. The promotional video of the Games was also screened during the program.

More than 3 thousand athletes from over 100 countries and around 150 thousand visitors are expected to participate in the 4th World Nomad Games.

Speaking at the program, Secretary General Amreyev referred to the strong support of the OTS Heads of States to the World Nomad Games, which was initiated under the umbrella of the Organization. Underlining the active involvement of the OTS Secretariat in the organization and development of the World Nomad Games, which represents the common cultural heritage of the Turkic World, Secretary General stated that the Nomad Games will move forward and its worldwide visibility will increase with the experience and physical resources of Türkiye. He also noted that the Secretariat will continue to assist and contribute to the successful organization of the Games.

Minister of Youth and Sports of Türkiye, Dr. Mehmet Muharrem Kasapoğlu, stated that he sees the Games as a sacred legacy emenating from our ancestors, the one that needs to be cared with utmost emphasis and transmitted to the next generations with pride.

Minister also thanked the Secretariat of the OTS for the role it has been taking for upholding the value of the Games across the world and its contribution to its organization in the Member States.

President of WEC, Mr. Bilal Erdoğan, highlighted that the Games are organized every two years with increased participation from the world, which clearly marks growing attention of countries and increasing awareness of peoples to traditional sports.

He underscored that traditional sports nurture the culture of togetherness, sharing, humility, and solidarity, values that societies are in need for cultivation of young generations. He further noted that the Games is a suitable instrument not only for the promotion of our history and culture, but also our countries and cities to the world.
