Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev visited Ankara on 24-25 July 2019 and held several meetings during his visit.
Secretary General had a working lunch with the Ambassador of Turkmenistan to the Republic of Turkey H.E. Ishanguly Amanlyev.
They discussed current activities of Turkic Council and outcome of the visit of Secretary General to Ashgabat on 10-12 June 2019. B. Amreyev emphasized that Turkic Council approaches with great interest to developing cooperation with Turkmenistan in various priority areas.
Ambassador Ishanguly Amanlyev briefed the Secretary General on recent economic reforms in Turkmenistan as well as on the organization of the First Caspian Economic Forum initiated by the President of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on 12 August 2019 in the National Tourist Zone Awaza, which will enable to promote strong economic, trade and investment cooperation with the Caspian Sea area and the nearby regions.
In this context, the Parties exchanged views concerning the participation of Turkic Council at the Caspian Economic Forum; and “International Caspian Exhibition of innovation technologies” which will take place within the framework of the Forum and various preparatory activities for the event.
They also discussed the further possible cooperation between the Turkic Council and Turkmenistan in the upcoming period and agreed to work collaboratively on projects undertaken by the organization.
Secretary General B.Amreyev met with H.E. Choi Hong-Ghi, Ambassador of Republic of Korea on 25 July 2019.
Secretary General B.Amreyev briefed the Ambassador on the activities and projects being pursued by the Secretariat of the Turkic Council. He stressed that by promoting deeper relations and solidarity among Turkic countries, Turkic Council aims to serve as a new regional instrument for advancing international cooperation in Eurasian continent and in the Islamic world, particularly in Central Asia and Caucasus. He also informed the Ambassador about the activities of other interturkic integration bodies, such as TURKSOY, TurkPA,Turkic Academy, Turkic Heritage and Culture Foundation for promoting the culture, language and history of the Turkic world to the rest of the world.
Ambassador Choi welcomed Secretary General Amreyev in Embassy of the Republic of Korea in Ankara. He underlined the role of Turkic Council in strengthening the relations among the Turkic Council Member States and stated that Turkic Speaking countries have become South Korea’s most important trading partners and destination for direct investments. Ambassador also stressed that the Korean language belongs to the Altaic language family related to the Turkic languages and that the language has common roots with Turkic languages.
B.Amreyev emphasized that although geographically distant from each other, Turkic speaking states and Republic of Korea have historical, cultural and linguistic commonalities and share a special friendship at the bilateral level.
In this context, Secretary General expressed the necessity to develop the existing productive relations and increased exchanges through establishing cooperation between Turkic Council and the Republic of Korea.
Parties exchanged their views on new avenues for future cooperation that could contribute to expanding relations between the Turkic Speaking States and the Republic of Korea in particular and in the region as a whole.
Korean Ambassador conveyed his best wishes to Secretary General B.Amreyev in his endeavors and success in achieving the goals of the organization.
