Secretary General of the Turkic Council H.E. Baghdad Amreyev met with the former Speaker of the Grand National Assembly and Prime Minister of the Republic of Turkey, H.E.Binali Yıldırım in Ankara.
During the meeting, the Secretary General informed H.E. Binali Yıldırım regarding the latest activities of the Turkic Council as well as prospective plans and projects of the Secretariat in the upcoming period.
Secretary General stated that the Turkic world and the Member States are becoming stronger with the important achievements in the last couple of years; especially with the cooperation and solidarity shown in the fight against the Covid-19 pandemic.
B. Amreyev further briefed H.E. Yıldırım on the preparations of the 8th Summit of the Turkic Council, which is planned to be held in November, 2021 in Istanbul.
H.E. Binali Yıldırım praised the latest achievements and works carried out by the Secretariat and expressed his eagerness to support the activities and projects of the Turkic Council.
Underlining the important role played by the Turkic Council during the past years, H.E. Yıldırım stated that the Secretariat should maintain and carry forward the momentum gained within the Turkic world and continue its crucial role in increasing solidarity and cooperation among the Member and Observer States.
H.E. Yıldırım and Secretary General Amreyev further discussed the issues related to the Council of Elders of the Turkic Council, which is the advisory-consultative institution, functioning under the aegis of the Turkic Council and consists of reputable and respected persons from the Member States.
H.E. Binali Yıldırım and the Secretary General also exchanged views on a number of pressing topics of the international and regional politics, as well as the responsibilities and course of action of the Council of Elders in the near future.
Dr. Ömer Kocaman, Deputy Secretary General accompanied the Secretary General during the meeting.
