Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev during his visit to Tashkent on 8-10 February 2021 had a number of meetings with members of the Government of Uzbekistan and relevant authorities; Minister of Culture H.E. Ozodbek Nazarbekov, Minister of Agriculture H.E. Jamshid Khodjaev, Minister of Innovative Development H.E. lbrokhim Abdurakhmonov, First Deputy Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications Mr. Oleg Pekos, Director of the Agency for Youth Affairs Mr. Alisher Sadullayev, and First Vice President of Uzbekistan Football Association Mr. Ravshan Irmatov.
During the meeting with Minister of Agriculture H.E. Jamshid Khodjaev, possible ways for enhancing multilateral cooperation in agricultural sphere, the exchange of experience and results of scientific developments, specialists, and scientists of agricultural research centers of the Member and Observer States were discussed.
Secretary General proposed to hold the first meeting of the Ministers in Charge of Agriculture and to organize an agricultural busines forum in Uzbekistan in 2021.
Parties discussed the possibility of launching a partnership program between the Turkic Council and the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO).
At the meeting with Minister of Culture H.E. Ozodbek Nazarbekov, Parties highlighted the necessity of strengthening existing cooperation in the field of culture among Turkic cooperation organizations and discussed the further activities and efforts under the umbrella of Turkic Council aimed at disseminating the rich cultural heritage and values of the Turkic world.
Minister Nazarbekov stressed the importance of further perpetuation and popularization of the spiritual wealth and centuries-old history of the Turkic world and serve to re-emergence of a new renaissance.
He briefed Secretary General on the efforts of Uzbek Government for protection of historic and cultural heritage of Uzbek and Turkic peoples in Uzbekistan and abroad as well as hoped at dynamic participation of Turkic cooperation institutions in these activities.
Secretary General Amreyev appreciated the decision taken by the Uzbek side to join officially to the TURKSOY and emphasized his wish for the soonest possible completion of all formalities for the accession.
B.Amreyev supported the celebrations of the 580th anniversary of the birth of the great Turkic poet and thinker, the prominent statesman Alisher Navoi, and proposed launching an Alisher Navoi International Award of the Turkic Council with the title “For Contribution to the Unity of the Turkic World”.
The Head of the Turkic Council also voiced the decision of extending the status of the ancient city of Khiva as the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World for 2021 and said that the Secretariat will contribute to promoting and popularizing the cultural and historical potential of Khiva, as well as to ensure the participation of representatives of culture, literature, and art of the Turkic Council Member and Observer States in the scheduled events.
At the meeting with Minister of Innovative Development H.E. lbrokhim Abdurakhmonov, Parties discussed the current activities within the Turkic Council and exchanged views on further strengthening cooperation in the development of the innovation ecosystems.
The Secretary General and the Minister touched upon the possibilities of creating an Innovation Hub within the Organization, announcing international competitions for the joint research projects among the Turkic countries, organizing internships, and exchange of experience for researchers and scientists in leading research institutes of the Member and Observer States.

Parties discussed the possibility of creating, within the framework of the Turkic Council, a Center for Innovation and Technology Transfer, a Hub for the development of an innovation ecosystem, organizing competitions for joint scientific projects, the Union of Young Scientists and Researchers.
At the meeting with First Deputy Minister for the Development of Information Technologies and Communications Mr. Oleg Pekos, Parties exchanged views on the ongoing efforts of the Organization to ensure closer cooperation among Turkic Council Members in the sphere of cybersecurity, digitalization, e-signature and e-government, emerging digital technologies, and satellite service (digital broadcasting).
B.Amreyev and O.Pekos emphasized the importance of further collaboration within the Turkic Council in promotion of favorable investment conditions for the development of the IT sector, enhancement of technologies for statistics in the field of agriculture, development of software and digital content, transfer of technology, as well as increasing the computer literacy of the population.
Director of the Agency for Youth Affairs Mr. Alisher Sadullayev underlined the emphasis his country places on its relations within the Organization and expressed readiness to take part in the youth and sports activities organized by the Turkic Council.
Secretary General Amreyev touched upon issues concerning convening the fifth meeting of the Ministers in Charge of Youth and Sports and Young Entrepreneurs Forum to be held in Uzbekistan in September 2021 and noted that these events would contribute to further the enhancement of young business people’s network and discovery of new opportunities.
A.Sadullayev shared with B.Amreyev his views on ways of enhancing the cooperation between youth of the Turkic World, using the platforms of Turkic cooperation organizations.
During the meeting with First Vice President of Uzbekistan Football Association Mr. Ravshan Irmatov, Parties pointed up the importance of closer cooperation in the development of football in the Member States and discussed possible ways for organizing under the auspices of the Turkic Council joint football matches, in particular, matches of Super Cups, as well as junior and youth cups among the Member States.
B. Amreyev and R.Irmatov also exchanged views on promoting advanced methodological and innovative technologies in the processes of training qualified specialists in the field of football.
Secretary General Amreyev also visited the Technological Park of software products and information technologies, IT-Park Uzbekistan, where he was familiarized with the complex process that span the generation of ideas, their translation into products, and the commercialization of these products to a large scale.
