The Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States Baghdad Amreyev held a meeting with the Minister of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan Dauren Abayev on 10 May 2022 in Ankara, on the margins of the official visit of His Excellency President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev to Türkiye.
Secretary General praised the vital position of Kazakhstan in the promotion of the Turkic World’s colorful cultural and historic heritage.
B. Amreyev underlined the fundamentality of cultural cooperation between the Turkic peoples and drew attention to the outcomes of the Permanent Council of Ministers of Culture of TURKSOY Member States held in Bursa, Türkiye on 31 March 2022.
Secretary General Amreyev also briefed Minister Abayev about the recent developments in sports cooperation and gave information about the upcoming World Nomad Games in İznik, Türkiye.
D.Abayev highlighted the need for a greater cooperation in culture, sports and tourism in the Turkic World and expressed the Kazakh side’s interest in deepening the Turkic partnership in these fields.
Parties also exchanged views on recent activities in the field of tourist cooperation, including the promotion of new tourist destinations with particular emphasis on the city of Turkistan, the Spiritual Capital of the Turkic World, as well as supporting the investment in the tourism infrastructure in the Member States and conducting new joint tourism projects for fulfilling their tourism potential. In this regard, they stressed the importance of the upcoming 7th Meeting of the OTS Ministers of Tourism to be held in Shamakhi, Azerbaijan, on 23-24 May 2022.
