A meeting between Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev and Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation for International Organizations Affairs of United Arab Emirates (UAE), Yacoub Yousef Hassan Al Hosani was held on 6 January 2019 in Abu Dhabi.
The Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to the UAE Kairat Lama Sharif and Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to the UAE Chyngyz Eshimbekov also took part in the meeting.
Describing the bilateral relations between the Turkic Council Member States and the United Arab Emirates as excellent and permanently growing, Secretary General expressed confidence that this cooperation will be strengthened and widened in the upcoming period to a higher level.
Secretary General briefed the Deputy Minister about the priorities, objectives and activities of the Turkic Council and its permanent efforts for strengthening the relations among the Member States through promoting comprehensive cooperation in various areas ranging from foreign policy, economy, transport and customs, tourism to education, media, youth and sports.
Emphasizing the significance of Turkic Council Member States in the Islamic World and its agendas, the Secretary General highlighted these countries active role in promoting peace and stability in the Central Asian, Caucasus and Eurasian region.
Secretary General further underlined that the Turkic Council deepens its relations with the UN and its specialized agencies as well as highly values cooperation with other international organizations. Referring to the MoU signed between the Turkic Council and OIC in September 2017 on the margins of the First OIC Summit on Science and Technology held in Astana, the Secretary General underlined that the Turkic Council can serve as an important partner of OIC in various cooperation areas.
Deputy Minister Yacoub Yousef Hassan Al Hosani welcomed the Secretary General and highlighting his first official visit to UAE, expressed his appreciation for detailed information about the organization and pointed out that Turkic Council has a broad platform and perspectives for cooperation not only in the framework of OIC but on a mutual level with each OIC Member State.
Furthermore, Deputy Minister added that UAE is keen to further strengthen its close relations with friendly countries - Member States of the Turkic Council based on respect, mutual interests, stability and development in the region.
Parties have addressed in length the various aspects of the existing cooperation fields, especially on the eve of the upcoming Conference of Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the OIC Member States that will be held on 1-2 March 2019 in Abu Dhabi.
They also exchanged their views on the mechanisms for future collaboration between the OIC and Turkic Council as well as the various issues related to the possible cooperation between of UAE and the Turkic Council.
Secretary General was accompanied by the Project Director Farrukh Jumayev.
