Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev met with the Assistant of the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Head of Foreign Policy Affairs Department of the Presidential Administration Mr. Hikmet Hajiyev in the framework of his working visit to Baku on 8-9 September 2020.
The Assistant of the President and the Secretary General exchanged views on the implementation of the decisions of the 7th Summit of the Turkic Council held on 15 October 2019 and the Extraordinary Summit held on 10 April 2020.
Noting that the last Baku Summit was a qualitatively new stage in the organization's activities, the Secretary General highly appreciated Chairmanship of Azerbaijan in deepening cooperation and integration on a wide range of areas within the organization.
The Parties discussed in detail further steps for closer integration and enhancing economic cooperation among the Member States and exchanged views on the issues of the high agenda of the Organization, particularly preparations for the next Summit, establishment process of the Turkic Investment Fund and efforts towards defining a common strategy in a way to ensure closer cooperation and deeper integration in the Turkic World.
Mr. Hajiyev also thanked the Secretary-General for principled position of the Turkic Council on Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict based on the norms and principles of international law, primarily the UN Security Council resolutions.
