Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev had a meeting with the Minister of Agriculture of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Inam Karimov on 8 September 2020 in Baku.
Secretary General B. Amreyev gave Minister I. Karimov an overview of the Organization, the areas of cooperation and its priorities. He expressed satisfaction with the addition of agriculture into the cooperation portfolio of the Turkic Council upon the initiative of Azerbaijan, as the current chairman of the Organization.
Minister I. Karimov underlined that agriculture is one of the priority areas of the governments of the Turkic Council Member States. He added that particularly due to the increasing importance of food security on the global agenda, employment sector and agricultural production as one the main source of income, a common understanding that prioritize multilateral cooperation in the field of agriculture as well as exchanging experience and good practices. He noted that this new field would greatly contribute to advancing existing cooperation between the Member States.
Having informed Minister Karimov on the joint cooperation mechanism in the economic field, such as the Turkic Investment Fund and the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Secretary General B. Amreyev stressed that the agriculture should also be incorporated into these mechanism.
Parties discussed the operational details of the upcoming meeting of the Working Group as well as the following meeting of Ministers of Agriculture of the Turkic Council Member States, which are planned to be organized in the coming months.
