Secretary General of the Turkic Council, H.E. Baghdad Amreyev received the Ambassador of Ukraine to Ankara, H.E. Andrii Sybiha on 10 September 2020 in Istanbul.
Ambassador expressed his thanks to the Secretary General for the meeting and briefed him about the Turkic ethnic minority groups living in Ukraine such as Crimean Tatars, Gagauzes and Ahiska Turks, who are the part of Ukrainian nation and whose rights are equally protected by the Ukrainian Government.
Touching upon the centuries-old amicable ties between Ukraine and the Turkic Speaking States, Ambassador emphasized the close friendship and mutual cooperative relations of Ukraine with the Member States of the Turkic Council.
Underlining the activities and great achievements of the Turkic Council during the last 2 years Ambassador Sybiha expressed the interest of Ukraine for establishing cooperation mechanisms with Turkic Council. He also informed on the relations of Ukraine with TURKSOY and their intentions to develop relations with other affiliated organizations of the Turkic Council.
Secretary General Amreyev welcomed and highly appreciated the Ukrainian Ambassador Andrii Sybiha of his visit to the Secretariat of Turkic Council. B. Amreyev briefed on the organizational structure, main goals, initiatives, activities, as well as deepening the collaboration and integration in the framework of the Turkic Council. Secretary General also shared with the Ambassador the ongoing cooperation among the Member and Observer States within the framework of the Turkic Council, and expressed the past and current projects on the agenda of the organization in the field of economy, transport, customs, education as well as youth and sports. He also talked about the prospective zone of closer cooperation and deeper integration that the Turkic Council aims at establishing among its members in its region and beyond.
The Ukrainian Ambassador briefed the Secretary General on recent development of economic and commercial relations between Ukraine and Turkey and they exchanged views on the prospects of cooperation between the Turkic Council and Ukraine, reaffirming a huge cooperation potential between them in various fields, and agreed on taking some certain steps towards enhancing the relations in the upcoming period.
Parties also exchanged views on regional and international affairs of mutual interest.
