Within the context of his working visit to Baku, Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev had a meeting with Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan H.E. Shahin Mustafayev on 6 May 2019.
Minister Mustafayev welcomed the Secretary General and highlighted the active role Turkic Council plays in boosting the economic and trade cooperation among the Member States.
Mentioning the huge potential of the Turkic Council Member States in the field of economy, the Secretary General emphasized the important contribution of Azerbaijan in fostering collaboration in the fields of economy, transport, industry and infrastructure development among the Turkic Council Member States.
Parties discussed the new mechanisms proposed by the Turkic Council currently for enhancing economic cooperation between the Turkic Council Member States. In this context, Secretary General B.Amreyev briefed Minister Mustafayev on recent developments on the establishment of the “Joint Investment Fund of Turkic Council” initiated by the President of Azerbaijan, H.E. Ilham Aliyev as well as finalizing the creation of the “Joint Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Turkic Speaking Countries”.
Stating that “Development of Small and Medium-sized Enterprises” (SMEs) was selected as the theme of the upcoming 7th Summit in Baku, Secretary General stressed that Turkic Council is willing to continue play coordination role in establishing relations between different business communities of the Member States, particularly by paying attention to the SMEs in our Member States.
Minister Mustafayev said that taking into consideration the vital role played by the Small and Medium-sized enterprises in the development of countries, Azerbaijan established the “Small and Medium Business Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan” (KOBIA). Minister also added that this Agency will definitely contribute to the trade and investment relations among the Member States in the region.
The Parties exchanged views on the preparations for the Summit and made a fruitful discussion on organizing several joint activities during the event.
Minister conveyed the readiness of his Ministry to support the activities Turkic Council to the full extent for increasing the economic cooperation among Turkic Councils Members.
Parties expressed their hope that through the joint efforts, the upcoming Turkic Council Summit hosted by Azerbaijan will be a successful historic event for the benefit of Turkic nations.
The representatives of the “Small and Medium Business Development Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan” (KOBIA) and “Azerbaijan Export and Investment Promotion Foundation” (AZPROMO) also took part in the meeting.
