The 1st Meeting of the Ministers responsible for the Environment and Ecology of the OTS convened in Baku

The 1st Meeting of the Ministers responsible for the Environment and Ecology of the Organization of Turkic States was held within the framework of the 29th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP 29) of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) on 14 November 2024 in Baku, Azerbaijan. Ministers responsible for the Environment and Ecology of the OTS Member States as well as H.E. Amb. Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the OTS participated at the meeting.

In his speech, Secretary General expressed his gratitude to the Parties for supporting the initiative of the Secretariat on the establishment of the cooperation mechanism in the field of ecology and environment within the framework of the OTS. Referring to the Turkic Green Vision adopted during the 11th Summit of the Organization held on 6 November 2024 in Bishkek, Kyrgyz Republic, H.E. Amb. Kubanychbek Omuraliev underlined the significance of strengthening multilateral cooperation in the field climate change issues.

The Parties signed the Declaration of the First Meeting of the Ministers responsible for the Environment and Ecology of the Organization of Turkic States in which they expressed their intention to elaborate long term and short term strategies and policies of the Turkic States on environment, biodiversity and climate change issues. 
They agreed to hold the next meeting in the Republic of Kazakhstan in 2025.
