The meeting was hosted and chaired by H.E. Akmaral Alnazarova, the Minister of Healthcare of the Republic of Kazakhstan, and attended by H.E. Kubanychbek Omuraliev, the Secretary General of the OTS, H.E. Teymur Musayev, Minister of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Erkin Checheybaev, Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic, H.E. Kemal Memişoğlu, Minister of Health of the Republic of Türkiye, H.E. Asilbek Khudayarov, Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan, H.E. Judith Bidló, Deputy State Secretary of the Ministry of Interior of Hungary, H.E. Baghdad Amreyev, President of Turkic Investment Fund and Dr. Hans Kluge, Regional Director for Europe of the World Health Organization (WHO).
In his welcoming speech, Secretary General Kubanychbek Omuraliev outlined that holding 5th Meeting is a furtherance of shared dedication to enhancing collaboration in healthcare among the Member States of the OTS in line with the Turkic World Vision 2040 and OTS Strategy 2022–2026. He also emphasized the efforts to strengthen regional health cooperation through joint initiatives to ensure a healthier and more resilient Turkic world for the benefit of future generations.
Referring to the importance of partnership and close cooperation with WHO, he also welcomed the “Walk the Talk” event and launch of “TB-Free Central Asia Iniative” organized by WHO on the occasion of World Health Day on 7th April.
After the welcoming speeches, the Ministers signed the Declaration of the 5th Meeting of the Ministers of Health of the OTS and approved the OTS Working Group Action Plan for Health Cooperation 2025-2026.
The meeting of business partners on the topic: “attracting investments in healthcare of the OTS countries” was held on 8th April and the delegations visited the National Coordination Center for Emergency Medicine, the National Scientific Oncology Center, the Exhibition of Pharmaceutical and Medical Equipment of Kazakhstan and the Hospital of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan on 7-8 April on the sidelines of the 5th Meeting of the Ministers of Health of the OTS.
Within the framework of the Meeting, the representatives of the Parties signed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Cooperation in Biosafety, MoU on Cooperation in the field of Emergency Medical Care and MoU on Cooperation in the field of Medical Education and Science.
It was decided to convene the 6th Meeting of the Ministers of Health of the OTS in the Kyrgyz Republic in 2026.
