The 7th Meeting of the Ministers in charge of youth and sports of the Organization of Turkic States was held on 9 November 2023 in Basgal, the Republic of Azerbaijan.
The Meeting was attended and addressed by the Ministers in charge of Youth and Sports of the Member and Observer States and the Secretary General of the OTS.
H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, the Secretary General of the OTS, briefed the participants about the ongoing activities in the field of youth and sports. He highlighted the importance of focusing on concrete projects and initiatives, and to further prioritize the quality of the activities in the relevant field.
He reminded that during the 10th Summit of the OTS held on 3 November 2023, the Heads of State welcomed the idea of the establishment of the Turkic Creative Youth Encouragement Center at the initiative of Uzbekistan, as well as the Sports Agency under the umbrella of the OTS with its headquarters in Bishkek at the initiative of the Turkish side.
During the Meeting, the Parties expressed their commitment to promote youth and sports cooperation within the Turkic World through collaborative actions. The Azerbaijani side proposed the city of Lankaran to be nominated as a candidate city for the Youth Capital of the Turkic World 2024, and the Parties expressed their support to this proposal.
