Secretary General of the Turkic Council, Baghdad Amreyev paid a first working visit to Tashkent, Uzbekistan on 18-19 June 2019.
During the visit, Secretary General held meetings in the Ministry of Investment and Foreign Trade, Ministry of Economy and Industry, Chamber of Commerce and Industry as well as in the Legislative Chamber of “Oliy Majlis” (Parliament) of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
During the meeting of Secretary General B.Amreyev with the Deputy Minister of Investment and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Laziz Gudratov, the Uzbek side expressed its appreciation for the interest and efforts of Turkic Council in establishing economic cooperation with Uzbekistan.
Deputy Minister emphasized that Tashkent approaches with great interest to developing economic cooperation with the Turkic Council Member States at the bilateral level, which is a solid ground for a constructive cooperation with Turkic Council.
Secretary General stated that the Turkic Council stands ready for establishing a wide range of cooperation with the Republic of Uzbekistan. Referring to the proposal of the President Mirziyoyev during the 6th Turkic Council Summit in Cholpon-Ata to organize a Business Forum, B. Amreyev briefed Mr. L. Gudratov on efforts undertaken by the Secretariat of the Turkic Council in this regard.
Secretary General also stressed that the efforts made the Council for establishing the “Turkic Joint Investment Fund” will play a significant role in funding of joint projects and contributing to the increasing the role of priority sectors in the Turkic Council Member States and their partner countries - Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan aimed at promoting economic cooperation between them.
Underling the considerable experience of Uzbekistan in organizing similar events, Deputy Minister expressed the support of the Ministry to holding the Turkic Business Forum in Tashkent in close partnership with CCI of Uzbekistan and Parties agreed on the date of the Forum.
During the Secretary General’s meeting in the Ministry of Economy and Industry of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the Deputy Minister Botir Usmanov briefed the Secretary General about recent economic reforms in Uzbekistan and noted in this respect that development of favourable business environment and SME’s in Uzbekistan is one of the main strategies of the Uzbekistan Reforms Road Map for 2019-2021 adopted by the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan H.E.Shavkat Mirziyoyev.
Mr.B.Usmonov stated that Uzbekistan ascribes utmost importance to the diversification of industry, processing of raw materials, development of silk processing and textile industry and favours policies to support the manufacture of handicrafts.
Secretary General B.Amreyev highlighted that the Members of Turkic Council are interested in deepening cooperation in all areas, particularly in the field of economy and trade. He also expressed that the Turkic Council became a favourable platform for the realization of such initiatives and hoped that Uzbekistan will highly benefited from cooperation with the Turkic Council Member States.
Given the tourism/cultural and historical potential of Uzbekistan for international travel destinations, Secretary General proposed to foster new cooperation opportunities with Uzbekistan in the field of tourism.
Deputy Minister B.Usmonov stressed that the Ministry of Economy and Industry will be actively involved in the organization of the Business Forum planned to be held this year in Tashkent.
In the meeting of Secretary General with the Chairman of Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Uzbekistan, Adkham Ikramov and Deputy Chairman Islom Jasimov,the Uzbek side expressed its satisfaction with the close cooperation established between the Turkic Council and Uzbekistan in several fields and hoped that this first working visit of the Secretary General of Turkic Council to Uzbekistan will open a new page in furthering constructive and mutually beneficial cooperation between two Parties.
Stressing the special emphasis given by the Heads of the States of the Turkic Council members during the Cholpan-Ata Summit, B.Amreyev pointed out that the Secretariat focuses on the enhancement of the economic and business relations among the Member States, especially taking into consideration the theme of the upcoming Summit, which will be dedicated to strengthening Small and Medium sized Enterprises (SMEs)”.
Chairman A.Ikramov expressed that the Turkic Council is an organization that has the capacity to strengthen the potential of Turkic Speaking States in the region and assist the Turkic world to become economically stronger. Bilateral relations of Uzbekistan with the Turkic Council Member States are at high level; trade relations are continuously increasing; and there is a huge potential to double it.
Parties underlined the importance of the establishment of “Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry”, which was founded with the signature of the Statute during a ceremony held on 17 May 2019 in Nur-Sultan. They discussed the various technical aspects of the preparations for the Turkic Business Forum in Tashkent in the upcoming period.
Chairman of Uzbekistan CCI further expressed its full support to the initiative of the Turkic Council to held Business Forum in Tashkent and their readiness to take active part in its successful implementation.
Secretary General visited the Legislation Chamber of the Oliy Majlis (Parliament) of the Republic of Uzbekistan and met with Chairman of the Committee on Industry, Construction and Trade of the Oliy Majlis, Mr.Azamat Pardayev, Deputy Chairman of the Committee on International Affairs and Inter-Parliamentary Relations of the Oliy Majlis, Mrs. Feruza Eshmatova and Head of International Relations Department of the Oliy Majlis, Mr. Abrov Gulamov.
Azamat Pardayev welcomed the Secretary General of Turkic Council first visit to Uzbekistan and Oliy Majlis. He briefed Secretary General on the structure of the Oliy Majlis and recent reforming process of the Legislative Chamber of Uzbekistan.
A.Pardayev noted that under the leadership of President H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev, Uzbekistan has begun to take steps towards openness and economic and political reform. His country has focused mainly on improving bilateral ties and new opportunities for regional cooperation.
Secretary General B.Amreyev stated that Turkic Council is following the process of reforms in the brotherly country of Uzbekistan and expresses its full support for the efforts of President Shafkat Mirziyoyev in his historic mission.
He briefed the members of the Parliament about the establishment process of the Organisation, main achievements of the organization in different areas, particularly in the fields of economy and trade as the main priorities of the Turkic Council’s activity.
He stressed that the Turkic Speaking States are keen to enhance the cooperation links among peoples of the Turkic-speaking countries, thus implying that its activities included, but were not limited to its member States.
B. Amreyev expressed his hope to receive the support and assistance of Oliy Majlis of Uzbekistan to ensure the success of this initiative.
Members of Oliy Majlis pointed out that through joint efforts and political will of the governments,Turkic Speaking States will be presented with new opportunities for mutually beneficial regional cooperation.
Secretary General was accompanied by the Project Directors Ms.Ozge Pan and Mr.Farrukh Jumayev during his visit to Tashkent.
