On the occasion of the 92nd anniversary of Kyrgyz writer Chingiz Aitmatov, one of the renowned writers not only of the Turkic but also the whole world, was commemorated at the Park and Statute devoted to his name in Maltepe Province in Istanbul on 12 December 2020.
Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council Sultan Raev, Mayor of Maltepe Province Ali Kılıç, and Consul General of the Kyrgyz Republic in Istanbul Nurlan Abdrahmanov attended the commemoration ceremony.
Deputy Secretary General Sultan Raev expressed that Chingiz Aitmatov is the common value and pride of the whole Turkic World, and thanked Maltepe Mayor Ali Kılıç for building such a beautiful park and sculpture honoring his memory and keeping his name alive.
The Kyrgyz writer and statesman Cengiz Aytmatov’s works have been translated into more than 170 languages, which contained the Turkic culture and philosophy, including Kyrgyz traditions and customs. While telling the history of the entire Turkic World, especially the Kyrgyz History, he enlightened the past and reached national and universal views in the way of creating the future of Turkic people.
Today, Aitmatov's memory is honored in parks and streets in many countries including Turkic States and his monumental works are analyzed and read universally.
