Secretary General of the Turkic Council Baghdad Amreyev and President of the World Ethnosport Confederation (WEC) Bilal Erdoğan signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on 5 February 2019 in Istanbul at the Tunuslu Hayreddin Paşa Palace hosted by Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality Youth Assembly.
The MoU, which established the official cooperation between the Turkic Council and the World Ethnosport Confederation aims at enhancing the existing partnership between the two organizations.
Following the signing of MoU, Secretary General Amreyev and President of the WEC Erdoğan discussed the topics of mutual interest and future projects in the field of youth and sports.
Noting that the signing of the MoU will promote close cooperation between the Turkic Council and WEC and stressing the importance of traditional sports for the cultural heritage of the Turkic people, Secretary General Baghdad Amreyev expressed that the Turkic Council is willing to work jointly with the WEC on the coordination of the Fourth World Nomad Games (WNG), which will be held in 2020 in Turkey as was decided during the 6th Summit of the Turkic Council convened on 3 September 2018 in Cholpon-Ata, Kyrgyzstan.
Secretary General Amreyev also provided information about the ongoing activities of the Council with a specific reference to the economic cooperation initiatives such as the Common Integration and Joint Investment Funds under the Turkic Council and the efforts to establish the Turkic Chambers of Commerce and Industry (TCCI) under the Turkic Council.
President of the WEC Bilal Erdoğan expressed appreciation with the mentioned activities of the Secretariat and reiterated his eagerness to cooperate with the Turkic Council on the implementation of the Fourth WNG. He also added that the MoU will establish an effective and systematic cooperation mechanism for both organizations’ will to strengthen collaboration in the field of youth and sports.
Underlining that Turkic Council is an umbrella institution of the Turkic world symbolizing the determination of its Member States to embolden their ties of brotherhood stemming from history with current rational cooperation initiatives, President of the WEC Erdoğan expressed that WEC will appreciate joining the efforts of increasing fraternal relations among the Turkic Speaking countries.
Deputy Secretary General Ömer Kocaman and Project Director Ali Çiviler accompanied the Secretary General during the meeting.
