The opening ceremony of monument of “Er Manas”, the great hero of the Turkic World, was held in Ankara on August 31, 2021 on the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the independence of the Kyrgyz Republic.
The official opening ceremony was held with the participation of Ambassador of Kyrgyz Republic to Ankara Kubanichbek Omuraliyev, Mayor of Keçiören Municipality Turgut Altinok, Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council Sultanbek Raev, representatives of the corps diplomatique in Ankara including Ambassadors of the Member States of the Turkic Council, intellectuals, government officials and representatives of civil society from Turkey.
President of the Kyrgyz Republic H.E. Sadyr Zhaparov, attended the opening ceremony with a video message where he delivered a speech. In his address, President Zhaparov congratulated everyone who contributed to the opening of Manas monument and expressed his gratitude to Turkey. Highlighting that this monument is the precious symbol of amicability between Turkey and Kyrgyzstan, he wholeheartedly celebrated the brotherhood and friendship ties between the Turkish and Kyrgyz people.
In his opening statement, Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council Raev stressed that the Epic of Manas does not only belong the Kyrgyz people but also to all Turkic nations”. He also underlined that this saga is one of the most important epics existing in the languages of the world as well as the longest epic worldwide and it gives great spirituality and strength to all Turkic people.
Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic to Ankara Kubanichbek Omuraliyev in his address stressed that this monument is a symbol of friendship and brotherhood between the Turkic people and this event will serve to bring all Turkic peoples even closer.
At the ceremony that attracted great interest of audience, Keçiören Mayor Turgut Altınok emphasized that placing in Keçiören the “Er Manas” monument which is a concrete symbol of thousands of years of common history and culture, is a reflection of the determination of carrying the enhanced solidarity in the Turkic world to the future.
