Ceremony Held on the Occasion of Abai Day in Budapest

The Embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan organized a commemoration ceremony in Budapest in honor of Abai Kunanbaiuly, the prominent Kazakh poet, on 9 August 2024.

 

During the event, H.E. Abzal Saparbekuly, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan to Hungary; H.E. Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States; H.E. Sultan Raev, Secretary General of the International Organization of Turkic Culture (TURKSOY); and H.E. Kinga Erős, President of the Hungarian Writers’ Association, delivered speeches.

 

The Secretary General emphasized that Abai Kunanbaiuly’s literary works transcend time, offering wisdom that remains timeless for generations to come. He highlighted Abai’s profound understanding of humanity, his calls for ethical integrity, and his advocacy for education and enlightenment, which resonate deeply with the values we uphold today.

 

The Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States underlined that Abai’s poetry and philosophy are a testament to the rich intellectual and cultural traditions of the Turkic peoples, reflecting their collective history and aspirations for the future.

 

The event was attended by representatives from academia, mass media outlets, and members of the diplomatic corps.

 

The ceremony took place in the park where the bust of Abai Kunanbaiuly is located.
