On behalf of the Turkic Council and on my own behalf, I would like to congratulate United Nation family on the 75th Anniversary of the founding the United Nations (UN) on this day in 1945, when the UN Charter entered into force.
The UN remains the central and indispensable forum for harmonizing the actions of nations in the attainment of peace and security, economic development and social progress, peaceful settlement of disputes, human rights and the rule of law.
Turkic Council, as an international organization, has maintained a long-standing co-operation with the United Nations as well as its related specialized agencies such as UN Development Programme (UNDP), UN Alliance of Civilizations (UNAOC), UN Office for South-South Cooperation (UNOSSC), UN Tourism Organization and UN Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO).
There are many shared values between the work of the United Nations and the Turkic Council. In the preamble of the Nakhchivan Agreement, which is the founding document of the Turkic Council, the Member States reaffirmed their commitments to the purposes and principles enshrined in the UN Charter and identified Council’s main objective, among others, contributing to the regional and global peace and stability.
I would like to express our satisfaction for the deepening of our relations and collaboration with the UN. In this context, we also established contacts with World Health Organization (WHO) since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and inked the Memorandum of Understanding on cooperation with WHO on 11 September 2020 which establishes legal basis for our future cooperation.
Taking this opportunity, I convey our appreciations for our strong partnership and wish the UN continued success to reach its goal of strengthening universal peace, security and stability all over the world.

Secretary General of the Turkic Council
