At the invitation of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE), the Delegation of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), led by Secretary General H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, attended the 87th session of the Inland Transport Committee, taking place from 11 to 14 February 2025 in Geneva.
Delivering a speech at the Ministerial Roundtable on Promoting Sustainable Transport Connectivity, co-hosted by Türkiye and Netherlands, Secretary General Omuraliev underscored the strategic importance of transport in driving trade facilitation and sustainable development across the Turkic region. He highlighted initiatives within the OTS aimed at enhancing the Middle Corridor’s efficiency and resilience, positioning it as a key trade route between Asia and Europe.
Secretary General Omuraliev also emphasized the OTS’s commitment to digitalization, particularly the adoption of the eTIR system, and noted the recent signing of the Roadmap on the Implementation of eTIR within the OTS region. He reaffirmed the Organization’s dedication to strengthening cooperation with international partners, including UNECE, to accelerate the digital transformation of regional transport networks.
The session was also attended by high-level representatives from the Ministries of Transport and Permanent Missions of the OTS Member States, further reinforcing the Organization’s commitment to advancing regional connectivity and sustainable transport solutions.
