OTS International Observation Mission monitored the Parliamentary Elections in Kazakhstan
The delegation of the International Election Observation Mission of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) visited Kazakhstan between 17-20 March 2023 to monitor the Elections of Members of the Mazhilis of the Parliament and Maslikhats of the Republic of Kazakhstan that took place on 19 March 2023.

The Observation Mission was headed by the OTS Deputy Secretary General Mr. Sadi Jafarov and comprised the officials of the Secretariat of the Organization as well as the Central Election Commission representatives and diplomats from the Member States other than Kazakhstan.

In the framework of pre-election contacts, the Mission had meetings with the Chairman of the Central Election Commission of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Nurlan Abdirov, representatives of political parties “Auyl”, “Nationwide Social Democratic Party” and “Amanat” on 17 March 2023 to get acquainted with the campaigning processes and elections preparations.

On the election day, the Mission has conducted the observation of the voting procedures in 32 polling stations in Astana. 

On 20 March 2023, the Mission presented its assessments on the elections with national, international and public media outlets at a press conference.

On the same day, the delegation met the Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mr. Kanat Tumysh to exchange views on the outcomes of the elections. During the meeting, the Parties also discussed the subjects related to the current agenda and upcoming activities within the framework of the OTS.
