On 16 December 2022, the second day of the visit to the Republic of Azerbaijan, Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States held a meeting with Mr. Fuad Muradov, Chairman of the State Committee of Azerbaijan for Work with the Diaspora in Baku.
Extending congratulations to the Secretary General of the OTS on the occasion of his appointment, Chairman Muradov conveyed that the contacts among the peoples of Turkic countries, who share common history, language and culture is of vital importance. He also expressed the Azerbaijani side’s readiness to further contribute to the multilateral cooperation in the field of diaspora under the OTS.
Ambassador Omuraliev extended his appreciation for the congratulation, noted the significance of people-to-people contacts and diaspora affairs in the agenda of the Organization. He welcomed Azerbaijan’s efforts on launching events in diaspora related subjects, especially in the city of Shusha, which was declared as the Cultural Capital of the Turkic World for 2023. He expressed the Secretariat’s support for organizing of such event with the aim of bringing the diasporas and communities of the Turkic countries closer.
The parties discussed in this context, the ongoing preparations for the meeting of Heads of Diaspora Organizations of the Member States of the OTS to be held on 19-22 December 2022 in Baku and Shusha.
