The Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliyev held a bilateral meeting with Mr. Umid Shadiev, Chairman of the Uzbekistan Tourism Committee on the sidelines of the Global Tourism Forum held in Brussels, Belgium on 20 October 2025.

During the meeting, both sides exchanged views on enhancing cooperation in the field of tourism among the OTS Member States. Mr. Shadiev expressed Uzbekistan’s appreciation for the Organization’s efforts in strengthening visibility and promoting the rich tourism potential of its Member States. He thanked Secretary General for highlighting the projects of Tabarruk Ziyarat and Silk Road, which have significantly contributed to the growth of tourism in Uzbekistan and across the Turkic world.

Secretary General Ambassador Omuraliyev noted the steady increase in tourist exchanges among OTS countries and emphasized the rising frequency of flights within the region. He highlighted the importance of further expanding air connectivity to facilitate travel and strengthen people-to-people ties.

Both sides reflected on the opportunities to open new routes, including between Uzbekistan and Hungary, to further boost tourism cooperation and economic engagement within the OTS framework. The meeting reaffirmed the shared commitment of OTS Member States to promote sustainable tourism, cultural exchange, and closer regional integration.
