On February 15, 2023, the Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev met with the Chief Advisor to the President of Türkiye H.E. Yalçın Topçu in Ankara.
During the meeting, Chief Adviser Topçu expressed gratitude for the efforts and support provided by the Turkic States in response to the unprecedented disaster that occurred in Turkiye and solidarity shown by the Turkic World.
Ambassador Omuraliev, on the other hand, expressed his condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the disaster, and wished for a speedy recovery for those who were injured. He also reaffirmed the OTS's commitment to stand by the side of Türkiye and the Turkish people during this difficult time.
Furthermore, the Secretary General informed that a delegation of the OTS Secretariat will travel to the earthquake-stricken districts to obtain a better knowledge of the situation on the ground and the support provided by the OTS Member and Observer states. The delegation will meet with relevant state authorities and the affected people to discuss current relief operations and identify any further needs. They will also review the current situation and provide recommendations for how the OTS and its Member and Observer states might give the most effective assistance.
