Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev was received by President of the Republic of Uzbekistan H.E. Shavkat Mirziyoyev on 24 January 2023 in Tashkent.
Highly appreciating the outcomes of the historic Samarkand Summit held on 11 November 2022, which opened a new chapter in the development of the Organization, Secretary General Omuraliev commended Uzbekistan’s strong commitment and huge contribution to promoting common interests and advancing shared goals of the Turkic World. Secretary General expressed confidence that Uzbekistan’s chairmanship in the OTS will give another impetus to strengthening multi-spectrum interaction and enriching the cooperation agenda of the Organization.
President Mirziyoyev underscored the great importance attached by Uzbekistan to qualitatively enlarging comprehensive cooperation within the OTS. Stressing the importance of due implementation of the decisions and initiatives taken during the Samakand Summit, the President expressed further support of Uzbekistan to the activities of the OTS aimed at due implementation of the Turkic World Vision – 2040 and OTS Strategy 2022-2026.
Parties exchanged views about the plans on priority areas of the chairmanship during “the Year of the Rise of the Turkic Civilization”. They paid particular attention on the facilitation of trade and customs procedures, the creation of a "space of new economic opportunities", the strengthening of transport interconnectedness and enhancing cooperation in the field of food security, tourism, education, youth and sports.
Commending the comprehensive Concept and Action Plan presented by the Uzbek side, which encompasses an extensive array of activities to be undertaken during the country's chairmanship, Secretary General emphasized the Secretariat's eagerness to work in concert towards ensuring the successful realization of the Plan.
