Upon the invitation of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Observation Mission formed by the Turkic Council monitored the early Presidential Election in Kazakhstan on 26 April 2015.
The delegation for the observation mission of the Turkic Council comprised officials of the Secretariat and representatives from each Member State other than Kazakhstan, namely, Azerbaijan, Kyrgyzstan, and Turkey. The delegation was divided into two groups: one observed election in Almaty and the other one in Zhambyl region. The mission started on 23 April and ended on 27 April 2015.
The Head of the Mission, Secretary General of the Turkic Council H.E. Ramil Hasanov shared the outcomes the Observer Mission of the Turkic Council regarding the Election during a press conference on 27 April 2015 in Almaty, as well as the group that monitored election in Taraz shared their remarks on the same day at the press conference in Taraz. The official report of the Observer Mission of the Turkic Council will be subsequently submitted to the Member States.
Turkic Council Observer Mission affirmed that the early election of the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan was open, transparent and competitive, and complied with national legislation of the Republic of Kazakhstan and generally accepted international election standards.
This observation mission was the fifth mission commissioned by the Turkic Council to observe elections in the Member States. Previously, Turkic Council’s joint observation missions monitored the Presidential Election in Kyrgyzstan’s Osh city in October 2011, Parliamentary Elections in Kazakhstan’s South Kazakhstan Province in January 2012, Presidential Election in Azerbaijan’s Aghdam district of Karabakh in October 2013 and Presidential Election in Turkey’s Istanbul city in August 2014.
