The Secretary General of Turkic Council H.E. Baghdad Amreyev participated in a video-conference meeting with the Ambassadors of the Turkic Council Member States and Turkmenistan to the United States of America was held on 24 April 2020.
The meeting was attended by H.E. Elin Suleymanov, Ambassador of the Republic of Azerbaijan-the current Chairman-in-Office; H.E. Erzhan Kazykhanov, Ambassador of the Republic of Kazakhstan; H.E. Bolot Otunbayev, Ambassador of the Kyrgyz Republic; H.E. Serdar Kılıç, Ambassador of the Republic of Turkey; H.E. Javlon Vakhabov, Ambassador of the Republic of Uzbekistan; and H.E. Meret Orazov, Ambassador of Turkmenistan.
Secretary General Baghdad Amreyev informed the Ambassadors on priorities of the current agenda of the Organization in various areas and the efforts of the Secretariat for boosting the multilateral cooperation among Turkic Council Member States as well as collaboration with non-member states.
Secretary General and Ambassadors discussed the outcomes of the Extraordinary Summit of the Presidents of the Turkic Council held on 10 April 2020. Underlining the importance of cooperation and coordination among the Member States in the fight against Covid- 19, Secretary General shared with the Ambassadors the agenda of the planed video-conference meetings of Ministers of Health, Transport, Economy and Trade, Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) as well as the Heads of the Migration Services of the Member States in the upcoming period, in order to discuss the ways of implementation of the instructions given by the Heads of State during the Extraordinary Summit.
Turkic Council Ambassadors emphasized the significance of international cooperation for the Member States in the fight against the pandemic and expressed their views and recommendations on the ongoing efforts of the Turkic Council for implementation of the decisions taken by the Heads of States and of multilateral programs and projects thereon.
Secretary General and the Ambassadors exchanged views on the efforts of the Member States to mitigate the negative impact of the pandemic on socio-economic development, foster mechanisms for ensuring uninterrupted transport operations across international corridors in particular the Trans-Caspian East-West Middle Corridor, as well as the supply and unhindered flow of humanitarian and basic essential consumer goods.
