Secretary General Baghdad Amreyev visited Hungary and met with the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade, H.E. Péter Szijjártó on 9 September 2019.
Parties exchanged views on the activities of the Turkic Council and the current cooperation between the Turkic Council and Hungary. They discussed in-depth the details of the Council of Foreign Minister (CFM) meeting of the Turkic Council and the opening ceremony of the Representation Office of the Turkic Council in Budapest which is planned to be held on 19 September 2019 in Budapest.
Secretary General B. Amreyev expressed that opening of the representation office of the Turkic Council in Budapest will enhance Council’s relations with Hungary as well as help strengthen its ties with the EU and similar European institutions, as well as will contribute to the visibility of the organization in Europe.
B. Amreyev also underlined that the Office could also undertake the coordination of Hungary’s relations with other Turkic Cooperation Organizations such as; TÜRKSOY, TÜRKPA, Turkic Academy, and Turkic Culture and Heritage Foundation. Secretary General also gave detailed information about the upcoming 7th Summit of the Turkic Council scheduled on 15 October 2019 in Baku and side events that will be organized in the margins ofSummit.
In addition, Secretary General B. Amreyev briefed the Foreign Affairs and Trade Szijjártó regarding the establishment of the Turkic Chamber of Commerce and Industry (TCCI) and ongoing processes on launching Joint Investment Fund. He invited Hungarian side for close participation in the activities of the above-mentioned institutions.
Foreign Minister Szijjártó stated that Hungary attaches special importance to their relations with Turkic Council and other Turkic Cooperation Organizations. In that regard, Minister Szijjártó expressed that opening of the Representation Office of the Turkic Council in Budapest will be beneficial for both parties. Minister Szijjártó also reiterated their willingness to continue deepening cooperation between the Turkic Council and Hungary.
Secretary General was accompanied by the Project Director Mr. Farrukh Jumayev and Mr.Ersin Aydogan.
