Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev met with Mr. Shahin Seyidzade, Chairman of the Board of the State Historical and Architectural Reserve “Icherisheher” (“Inner City”) on 2 October 2023, during his visit to Baku.
Mr. Shahin Seyidzade welcomed the Secretary General Omuraliev and provided information about the history of the “Icherisheher” complex and ongoing activities within the Architectural Reserve. Mr. Seyidzade briefed the Secretary General about the upcoming International Conference entitled "Livable and Sustainable Heritage Cities", which is scheduled from 9-13 October 2023 in the historical part of Icherisheher in Baku, Shusha and Sheki cities.
Secretary General Omuraliev expressed his appreciation and support for the proposal of the Azerbaijani side on hosting the above-mentioned conference in Azerbaijan, for the implementation of the decision taken by the Heads of State of the Member States at the Samarkand Summit of the OTS on 11 November 2022, which has launched the initiative to create a "Turkic Site Managers Network".
The Parties also exchanged their views on the possibilities of multilateral cooperation within the framework of the OTS, in particular joint efforts to promote the intangible cultural heritage of the Turkic World “Qurama” art among the Turkic States and its inclusion in the list of the intangible cultural heritage of UNESCO, as well as exchange of Azerbaijan’s experience in training young restorers and other programs and projects.
In conclusion Mr. Seyidzade extended his appreciation to the Secretary General and the OTS Secretariat for supporting the initiative of Azerbaijan and active partnership in holding forthcoming International Conference.
