Today is the 74th anniversary of the Victory over the Nazi forces, which remains as one the most important and touching days in our countries.
The most terrible and bloody battle of the world brought pain and sorrow to every family that lived at that time and caused thousands of innocent people to lose their lives.
Over 3 million people from Turkic Council Member States Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan as well as from the other brotherly Turkic countries fought in this dreadful war against Nazism and almost half of these soldiers never returned from the frontline.
9th of May means a lot to these families and they pay tribute today, to relatives and loved ones who survived the war and those who were killed, or went missing, those who are no longer with their family.
Today, seventy four years later, the history calls again to our wisdom and vigilance. We must not forget that the ideas of racial supremacy and exclusiveness had provoked the bloodiest war ever. Therefore it is our primary responsibility to work hard to preserve world peace and stability, in order to avoid recurrence of similar painful incidents.
On this remarkable day, I avail myself of this occasion to celebrate veterans from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan as well as from the other brotherly Turkic countries who defended our homelands and rebuilt our countries for the sake of peace and happiness of the future generations. I also would like to commemorate all the martyrs, who sacrificed their lives in this cruel war with respect.
The Great Victory will always remain a heroic pinnacle in the history of our countries and we will forever cherish the memory of the Victory’s brave heroes and modest laborers.
Taking this opportunity I wish peace and prosperity to whole Turkic world.
