Turkic Medical World Congress of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) held in Istanbul on 30-31 October 2022 with the participation of H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan, President of the Republic of Türkiye.
The Congress was hosted by H.E. Dr. Fahrettin Koca, Minister of Health of the Republic of Türkiye and attended by H.E. Baghdad Amreyev, Secretary General of the OTS, H.E. Dr. Teymur Musayev, Minister of Health of the Republic of Azerbaijan, H.E. Dr. Azhar Giniyat, Minister of Health of the Republic of Kazakhstan, H.E. Dr. Gulnara Baatırova, Minister of Health of the Kyrgyz Republic and H.E. Behzad Musayev, Minister of Health of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
In his address, H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan stated that they consider the Turkic Medical World Congress as one of the most important grounds for common steps to be taken within the Turkic World, which is based on a human-centered understanding of civilization, like every other work within the Organization of Turkic States.
H.E. President Erdoğan underlined that they share the opportunities provided by digitalization in health and their experience in service delivery with all humanity, starting from the nearby geographies. Stating that their aim is to bring Türkiye to the top in the field of international health services with the "Health Türkiye" brand, H.E. Erdoğan emphasized the works to be carried out together with the soul of brotherhood within the OTS as a part of this process.
H.E. Fahrettin Koca, emphasized the importance of the participation of the Health Ministers and scientists from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzystan and Uzbekistan in the Congress and noted that their goal is to become a large family that can act jointly in the scientific field and produce its own vaccine, medicine and medical device under the OTS and expressed the readiness of the Türkiye to establish closer cooperation in this field.
Secretary General Amreyev in his speech highlighted the special role of H.E. Erdoğan in the historical steps taken towards the unity and integration of the Turkic World.
H.E. Baghdad Amreyev stated that the OTS has made significant contribution to the cooperation between the OTS Countries during the pandemic and important efforts in order to maximize collaboration in the field of health within the Turkic World. H.E. Baghdad Amreyev underlined that the OTS is the first international organization that held the meeting in the world in fight against Covid-19, right after the outbreak of the pandemic. Secretary General emphasized that as the umbrella organization of the Turkic World, the OTS is ready to coordinate and support all efforts to deepen cooperation in the field of Health.
At the end of the Congress, the Award Ceremony of “Tribute to the History of Medicine and Common Legacy” was held and H.E. President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan presented awards to Secretary General Amreyev and to the Health Ministers of the OTS for their outstanding work during and afterwards the pandemic process and significant contributions to the cooperation between the Turkic Countries.
