Turkic Council Secretariat welcomes the start of the production line of Chevrolet cars and SamAuto buses in Azerbaijan and considers this achievement as one of the gratifying outcomes of closer relations between the two Member States of the Turkic Council in recent years.
A grand opening of the production line between Azermash SR, UzAuto Motors JSC and SamAvto JV LLC took place on 17 September 2021 in Hajigabul, Azerbaijan, with the participation of Minister of Economy of the Republic of Azerbaijan Mikail Jabbarov and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Kuchkarov.
The implementation of the project with a production capacity of up to 6 000 units per year became possible thanks to the agreement between the parties signed on 21 July 2021. In April this year, at the opening ceremony of the Hajigabul industrial quarter, President of Azerbaijan H.E. Ilham Aliyev pressed the symbolic button to start the project.
We are of the firm conviction that the joint investment project will contribute to fostering entrepreneurship, growth, and job creation in the region and strengthening trade and economic cooperation between the Turkic states.
