On this meaningful occasion, we reflect upon the profound significance of 6 February declared as the "Day of Remembrance of Disaster Victims and Solidarity." This declaration serves as a powerful symbol of the unwavering strength and solidarity that binds the Turkic World during challenging times, particularly in the face of the hardships experienced in Türkiye last year.
The collective response and unity demonstrated by the Turkic nations during this challenging period in Türkiye highlight the shared commitment to stand together in times of adversity. The declaration of this day not only pays homage to the victims of disasters but also serves as a testament to the resilience and shared spirit that defines the Turkic World.
The Turkic World, in the aftermath of the devastating earthquakes in Türkiye, showcased remarkable solidarity. Authorities of the member and observer countries of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) worked collaboratively with their Turkish counterparts and coordinated the deployment of professional search and rescue teams, along with essential medical, technical, and humanitarian aid.
Beyond physical assistance, the outpouring of support through social media, messages of strength, and the mobilization of humanitarian and financial aid by NGOs, public, and private institutions from the Turkic World further exemplify the depth of our shared bond.
On this very occasion, I once again extend my deepest condolences to the brotherly people of Türkiye and convey our collective sorrow for the widespread damage caused by this catastrophic event.
As we commemorate the "Day of Remembrance of Disaster Victims and Solidarity" let us not only remember the challenges faced but also celebrate the resilience of the human spirit and the unity that defines our Turkic identity. May this day serve as a constant reminder of the strength we draw from each other in times of need.
With sincere regards,
Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev
Secretary General
Organization of Turkic States
