OTS Secretary General addressed the Astana International Forum

The Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev addressed the Astana International Forum’s “Coming together or moving apart: the future of multilateralism” panel session attended by Chairwoman of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Organization of Security and Cooperation in Europe H.E. Margareta Cederfelt and representatives of international organizations such as the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development, the Muslim Council of Elders and the Brazil, Russia, India, China, and South Africa (BRICS) platform as well as moderated by Mr Renault Girard, the Le Figaro journalist.

At the session Ambassador Omuraliev outlined that in an era marked by interconnectedness and interdependence, no single nation can single-handedly tackle the complex challenges that transcend borders. In this vein he noted that by working hand in hand, the Turkic States have realized the potential for enhanced trade, cultural exchange, and sustainable development in the Turkic World.

The Secretary General stressed that the multilateralism should adapt and evolve to meet the needs of the 21st century, noting that it should be inclusive, encompassing the voices of all stakeholders, including the youth, civil society, and non-governmental organizations.

During the discussions the participants also exchanged opinions on the role of major powers and their impact on global development, focusing on the frequent use of economic sanctions and the impact of technological innovation and digitalization on global development, as well as the potential for cooperation among nations.
