Tourism Training Program of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) was organized on 3-6 December 2024 in Turkistan, Kazakhstan with the participation of the representatives of the Member States. The program was held in line with the decisions taken at the 8th Meeting of the Ministers in Charge of Tourism Affairs of the OTS and hosted by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan together with Akimat of Turkistan and International University of Tourism and Hospitality of Turkistan.
The delegation was received by Mr. Zulpyhar Zholdasov, First Deputy Akim of the Turkistan Region, and met with Mr. Nurtas Karipbaev, the Chairman of the Committee of Tourism Industry of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Mr. Alibek Shokparov, Rector of the International University of Tourism and Hospitality of Turkistan and other officials from the Kazakh side.
During the program, tourism professionals from the Member States visited the tourism destinations in Turkistan including ancient cities of Otrar and Sauran as well as were informed by the Kazakh officials regarding the best practices and developments in the region.
Representatives of the tourism professionals and Kazakh officials also discussed the possible ways to increase tourist mobility within the Turkic States and attract more tourist from other countries to the region. Participants were further informed regarding the activities of the OTS in the field of tourism and raised their ideas with the aim to enhance cooperation by developing new projects and plans in this sphere.
