Within the framework of the COP29 a panel discussion on "The Importance of the Integrated Meteorological Early Warning System in the Member Countries of the Organization of Turkic States in the Changing Climate" was held in Baku on 20 November 2024.
This event, hosted by the Turkish State Meteorological Service, aims to enhance regional cooperation in developing effective early warning systems.
The panel was moderated by Mr. Hamza Taşdelen, Deputy Chairman of AFAD. Speakers included Mr. Volkan Mutlu Coşkun, Director General of the Turkish State Meteorological Service, Mr. Nazim Mahmudov, Head of the Azerbaijan National Hydrometeorological Service, Mr. Sadi Jafarov, Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States, and Ms. Ko Barrett, Deputy Secretary General of the World Meteorological Organization.
In his speech the Deputy Secretary General of the OTS Mr. Sadi Jafarov informed the participants about the activities of the OTS, the cooperation among the OTS countries in the field of meteorology, and its future perspectives.
