Dr. Mirvokhid Azimov, Deputy Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), participated in the opening ceremony of the Ski Mountaineering World Cup being held at the Shahdag Mountain Resort in Azerbaijan from 9 to 13 January 2025. In a gesture aimed at reinforcing solidarity and unity, he met with athletes from Turkic countries, extending his best wishes for their success in the competitions. 

Dr. Azimov held discussions with Mr. Rustam Najafov, Director of the Shahdag Tourism Center, Chairman-in-office of the Union of Turkic Ski Resorts. During the meeting, they discussed the events calendar for the upcoming winter season and agreed on joint steps to enhance collaboration among the Turkic ski resorts, in particular, in organizing the inaugural Turkic Ski Cup, scheduled for mid-February 2025 in Amirsoy Ski Resort, Uzbekistan. 

On the sidelines of the Ski Mountaineering World Cup, Dr. Azimov engaged in discussions with Mr. Jordi Canals Fontan, Secretary General of the International Ski Mountaineering Federation, and Mr. Fuad Naghiyev, Chairman of the State Tourism Agency of the Republic of Azerbaijan, on fostering active participation and collaboration in projects under the OTS.
