On the occasion of assuming his duties at the Turkic Council, and to celebrate October 3rd, “The Turkic Speaking Countries Cooperation Day” which marks this year the fifth anniversary of the signing of the Nakhchivan Agreement, Secretary General Ramil Hasanov hosted a reception honored by the presence of H.E. Naci Koru, Deputy Foreign Minister of the Republic of Turkey, on October 21, 2014 at the Çırağan Palace.
Mr. Vasip Şahin, Mayor of Istanbul, Mr. Kudret Bülbül, President of the Prime Ministry Department for Turks Abroad and Relative Societies, Mr. Hikmet Koçak, Rector of Atatürk University and Chairman-in-Office of Turkic University Union, Mr. Dusen Kaseinov, Secretary General of TURKSOY as well as representatives of the Consulates General in Istanbul, international organizations and members of press attended to the Reception.
At the opening of the Reception, Secretary General Ramil Hasanov, addressed and welcomed the guests. In his speech, he talked about the activities and the projects of the Turkic Council and stressed that the concrete projects carried out by the Turkic Council was aimed at providing peace and stability for not only the Member States, but also for other countries in the region, the Caucasus and Central Asia. Secretary General Hasanov also stated that the Turkic Council would be an effective actor in the region. Following the Secretary-General`s opening speech, Deputy Foreign Minister Ambassador Naci Koru also addressed the reception. Welcoming the activities of the Turkic Council, Ambassador Koru underlined the importance of the Turkic Council for the stability and welfare of the region.
After their speeches, Mr. Hasanov and Mr. Koru presented a gift and a plaque to Mr. Halil Akıncı, the first Secretary General of the Turkic Council in recognition of his invaluable services to the Turkic World. Mr. Akıncı delivered a speech of thanks. After the conclusion of this ceremony the reception continued with a festive atmosphere.
