The Executive Board of the Turkic Council Youth Platform held a virtual meeting on 19 October 2020 to discuss the current developments taking place in the region. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports of the Republic of Azerbaijan, Intigam Babayev, Deputy Secretary General of the Turkic Council Gismat Gozalov, and the Youth Platform Board members from all Member States.
In the meeting where the latest military attacks of Armenia against Azerbaijan constituted the main topic of discussion, the Youth Platform Board condemned the flagrant violation of international humanitarian law by Armenia through indiscriminate and arbitrary attacks on civilian targets in Azerbaijani territory and called on the international community to take necessary steps to stop the attacks on civilians by the Armenian armed forces.
Deputy Minister Babayev provided the Board with information on the latest developments as well as briefed about the role that the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan and the youth NGOs of Azerbaijan has taken since the beginning of the clashes to defend the righteous cause of Azerbaijan.
Deputy Secretary General Gozalov informed the meeting about the steps taken by the Turkic Council on the subject-matter, reminded the Turkic Council’s condemnation of Armenia over its arbitrary attacks on civilians in Ganja and other cities of Azerbaijan, and reiterated the importance of the early settlement of the Armenia-Azerbaijan conflict on the basis of sovereignty, territorial integrity and inviolability of internationally recognized borders of the Republic of Azerbaijan. He also reminded the relevant resolutions of the UN Security Council adopted in 1993, demanding an immediate, unconditional and full withdrawal of the armed forces of Armenia from all occupied territories of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Having discussed the topic, the Board of the Youth Platform adopted a road map for its future course of action to support the legitimate struggle of the brotherly Azerbaijan.
