On March 15, 2021, H.E. Sadyr Zhaparov, President of the Kyrgyz Republic received H.E. Baghdad Amreyev, Secretary General of the Turkic Council in Bishkek. Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic, H.E. Ruslan Kazakbaev also took part in the meeting.
Secretary General briefed the President on the ongoing preparations of the upcoming Informal Summit of the Turkic Council to be held on 31 March 2021 in Turkistan, Kazakhstan and handed over the invitation letter of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and Honorary Chairman of the Turkic World, H.E. Nursultan Nazarbayev addressed to the President of the Kyrgyz Republic, H.E. Sadyr Zhaparov.
President confirmed his participation to the upcoming Informal Summit and noting the importance of the first Summit that he will take part in, he expressed his appreciation for the timely visit of the Secretary General and for the detailed briefing. The Parties also exchanged views on the agenda of the Summit.
Noting the increasing visibility of the Turkic Council and wider recognition that the Organization has received from the international community, President Sadyr Zhaparov assured that the Kyrgyz Republic will continue to give all-round support to the work of the Turkic Council.
Secretary General provided the President with further information on the current efforts carried out for the establishment of the Turkic Investment Fund and institutional improvements to be undertaken for the Council of Elders, advisory body of the Organization.
President emphasized the importance of strengthening economic cooperation in the activities of the Organization. In particular, he expressed the readiness of Kyrgyzstan as one of the founders of the Turkic Council, to become host to an economic Turkic institution to be established in the future, such as the Turkic Investment Fund and to undertake necessary initiatives in this regard.
With regards to the 4th World Nomad Games that Turkey will host this year in Iznik, Bursa, President Zhaparov stated that Kyrgyzstan, as the initiator of the Games, is preparing to take an active part in the 4th World Nomad Games and is ready to share its broad experience for the successful organization of the Games.
President and Secretary General expressed confidence that the forthcoming Turkic Council Summits in Turkistan at the end of this month and ordinary summit scheduled to be held in Istanbul in this autumn would constitute a catalyst for the ongoing efforts that are crucial for the future of the Organization and provide an important platform in strengthening brotherly ties among the Member States. Moreover, they emphasized that these high-level initiatives should continue in the future as important undertakings aiming at an increased visibility of the cities of the Turkic World in the international arena.
