Turkic Council Second Young Leaders Forum as well as the Cultural and Arts Festival of the Youth of the Turkic World started in Turkistan, Kazakhstan on 23 April 2019 with an opening ceremony held in the Kazakhstan-Turkey Khoja Ahmed Yassawi International University.
Deputy Governor of Turkistan region Malik Otarbayev, Chairman of the Commitee on Youth and Family Affairs of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of Kazakhstan Madiyar Kozhahmet, Deputy Secretary General Ömer Kocaman, First Vice Rector of the Khoja Ahmed Yassawi International University Cengiz Tomar, First Secretary General of the Turkic Council Halil Akıncı, President of the TUGVA Enes Eminoğlu, as well as the Presidents of the Student Councils of Turkic Council and Khoja Ahmed Yassawi International University addressed at the opening program.
Within the framework of the opening ceremony, a parade of the Turkic Speaking youth and folklore performances of various Turkic Speaking peoples took place.
At the second half of the day around 200 representatives of relevant government institutions, national youth councils and youth organizations of the Member States, as well as the members of the Student Council of the Turkic University Union engaged in discussions at the panel session chaired by the Deputy Secretary General Ömer Kocaman and atended by the Chairman of the Commitee on Youth and Family Affairs of the Ministry of Information and Social Development of Kazakhstan Madiyar Kozhahmet, First Secretary General of the Turkic Council Halil Akıncı, and the Project Director Ali Çiviler. The session mainly focused on the ways to strengthen youth cooperation under the Turkic Council, expectations of youth living in the Member States, suggestions regarding the current and future activities of the Turkic Council and their development perspectives.
Upon the presentation of the Head of Youth Department of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Turkey on Voluntarism, Parties agreed to give training to 25 volunteer from each Member State on voluntarism in Turkey and establish a “Turkic Council Voluntary Group” comrising 100 volunteers from the Member States. They also agreed to benefit from the mentioned group in major youth and sporting events to be organized in the Member States such as the World Nomad Games to be staged in 2020 in Turkey.
Second Young Leaders Forum and the Cultural and Arts Festival of the Turkic World will continue on 24 April with the Opentalks sessions with the attendance of the Forum participants as well as the university students. Moreover, a diplomatic training program on OIC Youth strategy and a workshop on Islamic calligraphy will be provided by the ICYF (OIC Youth Forum).
On 25 April Forum participants will take excursions to the historical and holy places of Turkistan region within the “Ruhani Jangyru” Program.
Project Director Ali Çiviler and Research Assistant Dastan Almen accompanied the Deputy Secretary General during the Forum program.
