On 28 October 2024, the Election Observation Mission (EOM) of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS), led by OTS Deputy Secretary General Mr. Merey Mukazhan, issued a statement at a press conference at the Central Elections Commission of the Republic of Uzbekistan following its short-term observation on the recent Elections to the Legislative Chamber of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Uzbekistan.
Invited by the Government of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the OTS Mission, composed of eight accredited officials from the OTS Secretariat, representatives from Central Election Commissions and Ministries of Foreign Affairs of member states, conducted observations from 24 to 27 October 2024.
During Election Day, the Mission observed 22 polling stations across Tashkent and Samarkand, monitoring the opening and closing procedures at designated sites. The Mission noted the smooth and transparent election process, reporting no noticable irregularities, and observed that all polling stations were well-prepared, equipped, and accessible for citizens, including those with disabilities.
The Mission concluded that the elections were conducted transparently, adhering to national and international standards. The OTS Mission congratulated the citizens of Uzbekistan on the successful elections and expressed optimism that the results would further strengthen Uzbekistan’s stability and deepen fraternal ties across the Turkic World.
