The Delegation of the Organization of Turkic States Secretariat, led by Deputy Secretary General Dr. Mirvokhid Azimov had a meeting with Director of Maritime and River Transport Agency of Turkmenistan Mr. Batyr Annayew on 25 November 2024 in Turkmenbashi.

The Parties exchanged information on regional efforts to enhance logistics and transport connectivity. Both sides discussed expanding Turkmenistan's active involvement in OTS cooperation mechanisms, including the Alliance of Logistics Centers and Cargo Carriers, the Sister Ports Process, and joint initiatives aimed at boosting the transport capacity of the Middle Corridor.

The delegation also conducted a field visit to the facilities at the Port of Turkmenbashi, where they observed its operational capabilities, ongoing infrastructure upgrades, and the activities of the Balkan Shipyard. Notably, the port's extensive capacity was highlighted, including its ability to handle 75,000 vehicles, 400,000 TEU containers, and 300,000 passengers annually, further cementing its strategic role in regional connectivity.
