Secretary General of the Turkic Council H.E. Baghdad Amreyev was received by the President of the Republic of Turkey H.E. Recep Tayyip Erdoğan on 30 March 2021 in Ankara.
Secretary General Amreyev informed President Erdogan regarding the recent activities of the Turkic Council, preparations of the upcoming Informal Turkistan Summit of the Turkic Council, which will take place on 31 March 2021 and 8th Summit of the Turkic Council to be held in Istanbul in the fall of 2021.
B.Amreyev expressed his gratitude for the continuous and staunch support of H.E. President Erdoğan to the initiatives and projects of the Organization as well as for the new building provided by the Republic of Turkey, as the host country, to the Turkic Council.
Informing the President about the latest developments in the Member States, the Secretary General put emphasis on the liberation of Azerbaijani lands from the occupation and also underlined the importance of expanding the cooperation in the framework of the Turkic Council.
B. Amreyev briefed the President regarding the future strategies of the Turkic Council, developments related to the establishment of the Turkic Investment Fund, relations with non-member countries, process of changing the name of the Organization as well as cooperation opportunities among Member States in the various fields including health, economy, trade and transport.
President Erdogan restated his strong support to the Secretariat of the Turkic Council in carrying out the activities and projects among the Member States and underlined the importance of growing interest by the non-member countries to the Organization.
Turkish President praised the statements and works done by the Secretariat during the Karabakh war and underscored the significance of the solidarity among the Turkic world which has always been a priority for Turkey.
President Erdoğan expressed his content with the activities and achievements made by the Turkic Council since the 7th Turkic Council Summit held in Baku on 15 October 2019 and stated that Turkey will gladly host the 8th Summit of the Turkic Council in the upcoming fall.
President of Turkey further appreciated the preparations for the establishment of the Turkic Investment Fund and pointed out that the Secretariat should uphold and carry over the momentum achieved within the Turkic world and continue its essential role in enhancement, solidarity and collaboration among the Member States.
