As part of his visit to Hungary, Secretary General of the Organization of Turkic States (OTS) H.E. Ambassador Kubanychbek Omuraliev came together with H.E. Sándor Lezsák, the Vice Speaker of the Hungarian National Assembly and Head of Central Asian Friendship Group, in Lakitelek on 14 January 2023.
Vice Speaker Lezsák congratulated the Secretary General Omuraliyev on his appointment as the new the Secretary General of the OTS and extended his wishes of success in his term. He also expressed his appreciation to the Secretary General for the successful meetings he had with the Prime Minister and the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary a day ago. Secretary General and the Vice Speaker visited the facilities of the Lakitelek Hungarikum Liget, which has been utilized for people to people activities aimed at enhancing ties between Hungary and Turkic States including Turkic language courses, literary, arts and youth activities and laid a wreath at the bust of Abai Kunanbayuly, prominent Kazakh poet.
Subsequently, Parties held a meeting where they discussed the future agenda of the OTS and the Budapest Office with a specific focus on the meetings and activities within the framework of people to people cooperation including but not limited to the Turkic University Union (TURKUNIB), youth and sports activities, as well as the Coordination Committee of the Turkic Cooperation Organizations and exchanged views on enhancing the cooperation among the Turkic States and Hungary.
Vice Speaker Lezsák expressed his readiness to host OTS meetings and activities in Lakitelek Hungarikum Liget. Parties agreed to work through the OTS Budapest Office to determine the projects and activities to be held in Lakitelek in the upcoming period.
